VeganPet - Fully Vegan, mostly Organic, Human Grade Pet Food for Cats and Dogs.

The Veganpet range of freshly made vegan dry or wet cat and dog foods are totally vegan and mostly organic.  These products are made with uncompromising attention to quality and suitability for purpose.

Here is an explanation provided by the manufacturer regarding the VeganPet "Human Grade" claim:

HUMAN Grade food

If you go into a Supermarket you will see pet food must be kept separate from human grade food. This is because the ingredients in the pet food is dangerous to humans. The meat or chicken in the dog food is acquired from animals that have died from an unknown illness or are found dead in the paddock. The reason could be disease, or a kindly vet has put the horse or cow or pig down using Pentobarbital. A dead animal could be found to have died of cancer, overdose of pesticides, liver fluke, many different diseases. It doesn’t matter they go into the pot as prime grade beef.

Looking at Pentobarbital tests have shown that it doesn’t break down with cooking and survives the rendering process. This is very bad for our pets as you can imagine!!

Recently our neighbour said he lost all of his chickens to an unknown virus or disease. Thousands of chickens.

He complained he had to empty his sheds and disinfect the whole shed, dump food and clean out silos. I asked what happened to all the dead chickens???  Yup sold to pet food manufacturers! There is your plump tasty chicken in your dog and cat food.

You may say "but we use Vegan dog and cat food, so we are safe".  Sorry no you are NOT.

The pet food industry is “SELF REGULATED” only very few things must be met for example the weight. If the label states 24% protein, then you must have 24% protein. No one cares where you get it from. Ground feathers is high in protein, but it cannot be digested or used by the dog or cat. Another is blood, that is high in protein but again the poor animal cannot get any protein from it.

All sorts of inferior plant ingredients can be used. It is quite legal to use mouldy rice screenings contaminated with dirt, faeces, dust or mould. This is why some pet food manufacturers are claiming “grain free food". Believe me there is nothing wrong with grains ( except wheat increasing allergies) if they are human grade.

Oil must be used in the extrusion process ( Veganpet uses cold pressed organic human grade soy, sunflower and coconut oil). Second hand oil is used commonly in pet food manufacturers. Where do they get this from? The fish and chip shops or fast food places.  You may have seen a truck going around sucking out the oil vats. That is the oil. The list goes on of how these manufacturers can cut their costs to the detriment of the animals they should be caring for. Dollar driven.

This is the difference in “HUMAN GRADE Ingredients" and “Ingredients”

Vegan food supplementation

Recently supplements for vegan cat and dog food have come onto the market. Just a word of warning. Do not use these products if you are feeding a “COMPLETE AND BALANCED" food to your dog or cat. These supplements if given to dogs and cats on Veganpet will suffer.

I have every nutrient your dog or cat needs in the Veganpet . If you add more you will unbalance the food. (For example the best ratio for calcium and phosphorus is 1:1. If you add more calcium you will unbalance that calcium and then your pet will receive too much calcium. The phos is then out of balance which influences other minerals which then influences absorbing of other vitamins and amino Acids.)

It has a huge knock on effect. So please do not add any supplements while feeding Veganpet to your dog or cat.
