Lapsang souchong is a black tea (Camellia sinensis) originally from the Wuyi region of the Chinese province of Fujian. It is sometimes referred to as smoked tea. Lapsang is distinct from all other types of tea because lapsang leaves are traditionally smoke-dried over pinewood fires, taking on a distinctive smoky flavour. Popular for its distinct rich and smokey flavour, lapsang souchong is closer to a black tea than Oolong and can be savoured with or without milk. Can be combined with other favourite black teas if the smokey flavour is too much on its own. The smokey flavour is held in high regard by aficionados. Steep with boiling water.
